Prudence Patricia "Pat" John

    Prudence Patricia "Pat" John, was born Feb. 4, 1930 in Minnesota Lake, MN, to Richard P. Shuck and Nevah Belle Deeter Shuck.  Attended school in Alma City and Mapleton Public Schools, graduating in 1947.  A graduate from Nursing School at Mercy Hospital, Nampa, ID – 1950. On September 9, 1950 she was married to Hugo H John of Nampa, ID at the United Church of Mapleton MN. In 1951 she travelled to Germany to spend 3 months with her husband who was in the US Army. This was the first of her many international travels. She accompanied her husband in a number of countries doing volunteer work at Moravian Hospitals in Nicaragua, refugee camps and street children in Zimbabwe, medical students in Ukraine, and Oriental Mission Society in Columbia.  Throughout her life she was a conscientious hostess to many individuals and groups associated with her husband’s duties as a university administrator.

   

   She was one of 12 children, 4th to the youngest. She is survived by her adopted children, son Peter and daughter Sarah and 7 grandchildren, Kyle Jones of Rutland, VT, Christopher Murphy of Mankato, MN, Shaun Murphy of Hartford, CT, Mariah Cafro of Niantic, CT, Patrick L. John of Mountain City TN, Kaitlyn Mason of Mankato, MN and Thomas Mason, Jr. of Mankato, MN, and great grandchildren, Anthony Jablonski and Makenzie Dunnack.  Sisters; Joy Hamann of Minnesota Lake, MN, Connie Lantz, of Lowman, ID, Mary Reynolds of Tarzana, CA, and Lila (Penny) Turner of Boise, ID,.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hugo, her parents, Richard Sr. and Nevah Shuck; son, Patrick and daughter Jean; sisters; Carol Anderson, Alice Blaisdell; brothers Daniel, Paul, Sidney, Harry, and Richard Jr. 

 

  Celebration of Life service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to United Church Foundation, Loaves and Fishes or Church World Service. For online condolences: www.mankatomortuary.com
