Quentin Ruben Peterson, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Quentin was born in Belgrade Township, North Mankato, MN on September 9, 1922 to Emma (Tillman) Peterson and Ruben Peterson. He grew up on the family farm and attended Kern’s Country School. He farmed with his father until entering the military service. He served in the U.S. Army after World War II and was stationed in Japan. Quentin was united in married to Maxine Johnson on March 30, 1946 in Mound, MN. They were married for 57 years. Quentin farmed in Belgrade Township all his life and also work for Pioneer Seed Company for 17 years. Quentin and Maxine loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and many times to Europe and Hawaii. Quentin loved the farm, traveling, old time music, and dancing. A highlight of his later years was going on an Honor Flight of WWII Veterans to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. He was a member of Circle 8 Square Dance Club for many years, a member of the American Legion Post 11, and a life time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Quentin is survived by son, David (Brenda) Peterson of North Mankato; daughter, Larinda (Keith) Burg of North Mankato; grandchildren, Travis Burg, Erica Spiess and Brian Peterson, all of Mankato; great- grandchildren, Lily, Adeline, Lincoln, Logan, and Jaden; sister, Arline Gillson of North Mankato; nieces &nephews; and partner, Dorothy George of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine in 2003; brothers, Russell and Clinton; sister, Bernice Bluhm; brother-in-law, Thane Bluhm; sister-in-law, Myvanwy Peterson; and brother-in-law, Howard Gillson.
Private family services will be held at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary with burial at Kern’s Oak Grove Cemetery in rural North Mankato, MN.
