Ralph J. Engles

Ralph J. Engles, age 90, of Lake Crystal, died on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Madelia Hospital.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery, Butternut.  

Ralph was born on August 13, 1930 in Cambria Township to Dayton and Bertha (Jones) Engles.  He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1948.  On September 23, 1950, Ralph was united in marriage to Eda Thorstad at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Butternut.  He was a lifelong farmer in the Lake Crystal area.  He served on the Crystal Coop board of directors.  Ralph was active at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Butternut serving as an usher and was also on the church and cemetery board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling.  He spent lots of time mowing his lawn and driving around in his golf cart.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Eda of Lake Crystal; children, Kristine (Marvin) Odegaard of Lake Crystal, Jim (LuAnn) Engles of Carlisle, IA, and John (Donna) Engles of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Hasty of Marshall, MN, Jodi (Richard) Nelson of Hudson, WI, Mike Thomsen of Ironwood, MI, Jay (Ashley) Engles of Lake Crystal, Pat (Kate) Thomsen of Tampa, FL, Lauren (Dusty) Hughes of Lake Crystal, Stacie (Aldo) Medici of Luana, IA, Brian (Kali) Engles of Lake Crystal, and Ryan Engles of Elkhart, IA; great-grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Isaac, Ellie, Aldo, Kate, Alli, Claire, Eli, Nora, Will, and Sawyer; and sister-in-law, Thelma Asleson of Madison Lake.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
