Randall “Randy” L. Wells, age 83, passed away, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church (501 S. 2nd Street, Mankato, MN 56001). Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and also will be held one hour prior at church.
Randy was born March 1, 1936 to Robert and Erma (Piper) Wells in Graceville, MN. He was the eldest of 4 children. Randy is survived by his wife, Beth Wells; sons, Warren (LaVonne) Wells of Colorado Springs, CO and Brian Wells of Mankato, MN; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnie Wells, of Rapidan, MN, Norman (Pete) Wells, of Mankato, MN; sister, Lenora Waddell of Morris, MN; a nephew and nieces. Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy graduated from Clinton High School in Minnesota in 1954 and from Mankato State College in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. He served in the US Army from 1958-1960. It was during this time that he met Beth Terrill in Colorado and they married May 14, 1960 at Fort Carson, CO. Randy worked several jobs while younger and for the last 46 years was a General Contractor. He primarily built post frame buildings but also built houses and did remodeling jobs. His hobby for the past 30 years was raising and showing Hackney ponies around the country with multiple Grand Champions.
Randy served on the Horizon Home Board for many years, the Rapidan Township Board and the American Hackney Horse Society Board.
Memorials in Randy’s name are preferred to the National Kidney Foundation, the American Cancer Society, Centenary United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
Randy’s family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato’s Intensive Care Unit staff for the care Randy received.
