Randy David Lorentz

Randy David Lorentz, age 63, of Mankato passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 after a courageous battle of multiple cancers over the past several years. 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 12pm to 3:30pm followed by a memorial service beginning at 3:30pm at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003). Randy was born October 5, 1960 to Wendell J. Lorentz and Ruth V. Lorentz (Sandmeyer). He was the middle child of 3 siblings. He played football for Loyola High School where he graduated. After high school, he built houses for a short time before going to work for his father at W. Lorentz Construction where he remained employed up until his final days. Randy was also a volunteer firefighter in South Bend Township for 35 years. 

In his early years, Randy enjoyed hunting with his buddies. He also spent as much time fishing for walleyes as he did hunting. He had various hobbies over the years from woodworking, the beanie baby craze, making jewelry, specializing in the magnetics, and even candle making. In his later years, he loved playing bingo, cooking, grilling, smoking foods, and taking pictures of the sunrises and sunsets. He valued his time with his family and friends.

Randy is survived by his beloved children, Daniel Lorentz and Sarah (Matthew) Lee; his special friend, Sue Newville; his brother, Robert (Sherry) Lorentz and their two sons, Nicholas (Jessica) Lorentz and Andrew (Ashleigh) Lorentz; his sister’s children, Crystal (Tino) Madison, Brandon (Kathy) Zender, and Adam Schmiesing.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie “Dodie” Zender; his father, Wendell J. Lorentz; and his mother, Ruth V. Lorentz (Sandmeyer).
