Richard Robert Gens

Richard Robert Gens, 84, of Good Thunder, died November 29, 2022 at his home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Decoria Cemetery in rural Mankato.

Rich was born July 20, 1938 to August and Frieda (Maus) Gens in Mahnomen Township, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Eagle Lake, Minnesota. On May 20, 1961, he married Kathryn Ziegler. Together they lived in rural Good Thunder for 57 years. Rich farmed for several years and worked for Mankato Cold Storage for 39 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, and especially his cats and dogs.

Rich is survived by his three children, Jeffrey (Dawn) Gens, Vicky (Tracy) David, and Jodene Hefner; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Borneke, Betty Wolff, and twin brother, Robert Gens; sister-in-law, Joann (William) Hoehn; and many nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
