Richard "Dick" G. Poehler, age 71 of Good Thunder, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Mayo Health System, Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Burial will be at Barnard Valley View Cemetery, Good Thunder.
Richard Gerhardt Poehler was born May 13, 1952 to Albert and Tunie (Wilking) Poehler. He was raised in rural Courtland and is a graduate of Nicollet High School. He first worked for his god father, Gerhardt Schmidt at the Meat Market in Nicollet, before moving on to Swede's Meat Market in St. Peter, Highway Meats in St. Clair, and then purchasing the meat market in Good Thunder in 1978, renaming it Dick's Locker. Dick was united in marriage to Marian M. Steinborn in Courtland on June 2, 1973. Dick was a member of St. John's Lutheran in Rapidan serving as an elder for several years. He was also active for 27 years with the Good Thunder Volunteer Fire Department, eventually serving as assistant chief. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, cooking, hobby farming, collecting tractors, going on Ranger rides, and his dogs: Sheila and Tequilla. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his grandkids.
Left to remember Dick are: his wife, Marian; children: Elizabeth Van Grootheest, Jess (Leslie), Jarrod (Stacy), and Tory (Jesse) Kruggel; grandchildren: Elijah, Gabrielle, Josh, Maya, Eden, Jayda, and Bodie; brother Harold (Betty); sisters: Elaine Peterson, and Adeline Magras; sister-in-law Darlene Poehler; his dogs; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his: parents; sisters: Dorothy and Gertrude; brothers: George, Arnold, Albert, Marvin, Robert, and James; and brothers-in-law: Jerry Peterson, Ron Anderson and Gene Magras.
