Richard "Rick" Francis Hurrle

Richard “Rick” Francis Hurrle, age 67, of Mankato, MN passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2023.

Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato, with visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

If you were lucky enough to know Rick, your world was a brighter and happier place. He brought his smile and sense of humor to all he met. Many wonderful memories come from Rick’s playful antics at his favorite place: the cabin.

Rick grew up in Mankato and attended Loyola High School and Mankato State where he made many life-long friends. His circle of friends was continually broadened by the connections he made through work at Spee-Dee Delivery, church, the Boy Scouts, and many more associations. Rick firmly believed you could never have too many friends and that every meeting was a chance to make a new friend.

Rick had battled cancer for the past 18 months with grace, humor, and dignity. His doctors remarked they were amazed that Rick was never down and had a positive attitude through it all. Rick was a true gentleman. His sudden death has left us missing him greatly.

Rick is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helene (Rieger); son, Ben; siblings, Jim (Kathy) Hurrle, Mary Jonas, Paddy (Mike) Shelden, and Su Hurrle; brothers and sisters in-law, Anne Rieger, Jane (Mike) Domeier, Mark (Barb) Rieger, Claire (Bill) Gernbacher, Bryan (Amy) Rieger, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene Hurrle.
