Rick John Ristau, Sr.

Rick John Ristau Sr., age 72, of Mankato, died on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his home.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato. Interment will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato with military honors provided by the Mankato Area Veteran Memorial Squad. The service will be livestreamed and available on Rick's obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the funeral home. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Monday.

Rick John, the son of Kenneth and Arlene (Teischer) Ristau, was born on December 23, 1948 in New Ulm. Rick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 1, 1968 he married Barbara Krueger in Mankato. Rick was a forklift operator for Northwest Packing in Mankato. He enjoyed building stock cars and derby cars and taking car rides to enjoy the nature and wildlife.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Ristau; three sons, Rickie Ristau Jr. (fiancé, Christina Ulich), Thomas Ristau (fiancé, Ashley Westphal) and Michael Ristau (special friend, Cara Halvorson); two brothers, Garth Ristau (Pam) and Paul Ristau (Noreen Browning); four sisters, Mary Jo Edwards (Chris), Tammy Chatleain (Jiki), Joyce Brower (Dyle), and Gloria Barr (Michael);  sisters-in-law, Diane Sorenson (Robert), Liane Porter (Norman), Kathleen Krueger; and Vicki Ristau; brother-in-law, Jim Krueger (Carol); 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; half-brother, Robert Edwards (Jeanette); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ristau; mother and step dad, Arlene and Thomas Edwards; son, Bruce Krueger; daughter, Karon Sue Ristau Ellanson; two brothers, Steve and John Ristau; two sisters, Debbie Ristau Simonson and Jean Tentis (Raymond); two brothers-in-law, Larry and Warren Krueger; two sisters-in-law, Lois Engel and Carol Knack; and one nephew, Scott Ristau.
