Robert Thomas Beckel

Robert Thomas Beckel, 98, of rural Kasota passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Marysburg. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert was born in rural Kasota on October 30, 1922 to his parents, Jacob Francis Beckel and Mary Agnes (Tambornino) Beckel. He attended rural township school, Loyola High School, and also received his associate’s degree from Mankato Commercial College.

Robert married Lois Avonelle “Avie” (Alldritt) Beckel on July 3, 1947 in Mankato. He worked for over 30 years as a Traffic Manager Merchandiser for Archer Daniels Midland in Mankato. Robert enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, and watching baseball. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Marysburg and was an adult leader for the Tri-Lakers 4-H Club.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Mary Sutton, Kay Albers, Dianne McCoy, Bonnie Beckel, Julie Nelsen; sons, Ted Beckel, Ron Beckel, Ray Beckel and Dave Beckel; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Landwehr, Jackie Dulas, and John Beckel. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Avie; daughter, Lois Beckel; siblings, Emmet Beckel, Margaret VanArsdale, and Paul Beckel.
