Robert “Bob” Duane Maday, Sr. age 83 of Mankato, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be held at a later date. Live streaming will be available at www.mankatomorturary.com
Robert was born September 17, 1939, to Sylvester and Ethel (Parker) Maday in Fairmont, MN. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1957. Robert attended St. Mary’s College in Winona from 1958-1959 and then served his country with the United States Navy from 1959-1963. He attended Dunwoody College of Technology after the Navy and received his Radio Technician License First Class. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Rowan on November 4, 1967, in Lakeville, MN. Robert was employed for 35 years with Mankato Citizens Telephone Company / HickoryTech as a Central Office Technician until he retired in 2009. Robert loved to play cards, listen to country music, watch the Minnesota Twins, western films and shows, and teach his grandchildren how to lose at chess. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen; children, Bradley (Lori) Maday of Mankato; Bridget (Al) Capps of Austin, TX, Robert Maday, Jr. (Machelle Hettinger) of Stewartville, Lynn Weir (Jon Renner) of Mankato, Sean Maday of Mankato; grandchildren, Rebeckah and Connor Maday, Sydney (Nicholas) Sanford and Jackson Maday, Avery Maday-Larson, Raymond, Ryan, and Katie Renner; sibling, Pat Kelly of Bird Island; special friend, Stephanie Maday of Eagle Lake, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Ethel Maday; in-laws, John and Rose Rowan; sister, Barbara Johnson; brothers-in-law, Jack Kelly, Wally Johnson, and William (Bill) Rowan, and sister-in-law Sandy Rowan.
Family would also like to thank the compassionate staff of MCHS Mankato, for the care he received in his final days.
