Robert John Roemer

Robert John Roemer, age 79, of Mankato, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health system in Mankato.

Visitation will be held from 3-6pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary. A prayer service will begin at 6pm at Northview led by Reverend Robert Schneider of All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Robert was born July 12, 1939 in Mankato to Theodore “Ted” and Evelyn Jan (Catulla) Roemer. He grew up in the Madison lake area and attended Mankato High School. Later, he moved to Minneapolis where he worked in the construction business before relocating back to Mankato to run the farm with his dad. For several years, Robert worked for Onan Corporation in St. Peter, retiring in 2007.

He was united in marriage to Lois Bestul on March 18, 1966 at St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Richfield.

Robert was an outdoors man. He enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his vegetable garden. For many years, he had a cabin on Lake Jefferson where he loved to go boating. He also loved hunting, fishing, and watching the Vikings and Twins. His specialty was baking. He’d go pick apples every fall and make apple pies. He especially loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Roemer; sons, Robert A. Roemer and his wife, Ann, of Oklahoma City, OK and Chad Roemer of Mankato; grandsons, Brandon Roemer and Sean Roemer of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Theodore Roemer, Jr. of Madison Lake; sister, Elizabeth J. “B.J.” White of Marian, IA.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
