Robert “Scott” Seigfreid passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.
Scott was born to Leora (Waller) and Gene Seigfreid on June 30, 1957 in Mankato, Minnesota. Scott’s passion for wildlife developed early in life when he went trapping and hunting with neighborhood friends. After graduating from Mankato West High School, Scott furthered his education by attending SCC (North Mankato, MN) and then onto VCC (Ely, MN). Throughout his life he volunteered as a firefighter and worked for CHS, where he eventually retired from. His appreciation for the outdoors continued to blossom as he discovered the beauty of capturing it through photography. Scott also demonstrated his enthusiasm for nature, conservationism, and prairie restoration by contributing to foundations such as Pheasants Forever, Sax-Zim-Bog, Ducks Unlimited, and Prairie Enthusiasts - to name a few.
Scott was perhaps at his happiest during the last few years of his life when he was able to travel south where he discovered more of nature’s beauty. While traveling, many friends and memories were made.
Scott is survived by his sister: Laurie (Tom) Schwinghammer; nieces and nephew: Elizabeth Kotewa, Alex Lyons, and Abby (Chris) Cairns; great nieces and nephews; a great-great nephew; aunts, uncles, cousins, and longtime friends, Bruce and Corinne Ort. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and cousin, Tim Seigfreid.
We will forever have our own memories of Scott with the different ways he has impacted us, however, there will be one thing we all share - those who knew Scott well, will never look at prairie flowers, birds, or wildlife in the same way.
