Robert Sens

Longtime North Mankato business owner, Robert J. Sens, 84, of Mankato, passed away peacefully, May 6, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Dr., in Mankato. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.

Bob was born June 5, 1938 in New Ulm, Minnesota. His parents were Edward and Ethel (Dolly) Sens. He attended school in the Mankato area and served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958, serving in France. On August 4, 1984, Bob married Sharon Haugesag at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato.

For many years, Bob owned and operated Bobby Joe’s Pub and Restaurant in lower North Mankato. In his free time, he enjoyed lake life at his home on Lake Washington, boating on the St. Croix, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, cars, and especially enjoying leisure time with his wife, Sharon.  

Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon; Bob’s daughters from a previous marriage to Maureen Cornish, Nan (Brian) Panettiere of Faribault, Dana (Andrew) Luing of Victoria, Minnesota, Heidi (Mark) Melnychuk of Faribault, Jamie Sens of Minneapolis, and Joelle Sens of Richfield; step-children, Jay (Mary Anderson) Haugesag of Mankato, Cindy (Jim) Kenne of Mankato, and Sonja (Mike) Lust of Mankato; sister, Pat (Russell) Johnson of Mankato; sister-in-law, Ethel Sens of Janesville; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Sens; and infant grandson, Adam.
