Roberta Ann (Wiste) Johnson, age 69 of Mankato passed away peacefully at her home with her family present on December 7th, 2024 after a 20-year battle with cancer.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 16, 4:00pm-7:00pm at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Tuesday Dec. 17, at St. John the Baptist Church, Mankato. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Reception and lunch to follow Mass. The funeral procession to Janesville Cemetery will follow lunch at 1:30pm. Roberta, “Berta” was born into the family of Robert and Ruth (Abraham) Wiste, on January 8, 1955 in Waseca, Minnesota. Berta attended grade school at Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville. Graduating from Janesville High School in 1973. She was active in band, cheerleading, and dance line. She was crowned 1972 Homecoming Queen. She met the love of her life, her husband Bill at their first dance in 1968. They were married on June 26, 1976 in Janesville. She was a loving mother of three children, Jeremiah, Joe and Angela. She was a stay-at-home Mother until her children could attend school. She began working part-time with her husband at Williams Diamond Center in 1988. Together they became owners in 1998. Roberta retired in 2020. She was an avid walker and enjoyed yard work, feeding her bird friends and picking up golfing in her later years. She was devoted to her grandchildren. Enjoyed watching their activities, they were the light of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William, children Jeremiah (Heidi), Joe (Katy) and daughter Angela. Grandchildren, Jackson, Jayden, Harper, Jaxyn, Milly and Bowen. Sister, Reba (Wiste) Johnson, brother, Roger Wiste, Sisters-in-laws: Peggy Wiste, Barbara (Johnson) Senne, Judith (Johnson) Adams, Mary (Johnson) Fury, Margaret (Johnson) Ruedy, Susan Johnson, Teresa Johnson, Deborah (Johnson) Purvis and Elizabeth Johnson. Brother-in-laws: James Johnson, Robert Johnson and Scott Purvis. 13 Nieces and 18 Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ruth (Abraham) Wiste, father and mother-in-law Lowell and Hazel (Neunsinger) Johnson, brother Ronald Wiste and sister-in-law Thelma Wiste, brothers-in-laws Richard Johnson, Wayne Senne, Everett Adams, John Fury and Duane Ruedy.
