Rodney Larson

Our faithful servant, Rodney, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the age of 72 at his home in Elysian.

The Celebration of Life will be Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Courtyard Marriott, 901 Raintree Road, Mankato from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with a prayer blessing at 12 noon (lunch provided). In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to donor’s choice.

Rod was the oldest of four children of Donald and Elaine (Magnuson) Larson. He grew up in Mankato, graduated from Wilson High School and Mankato State College. He was united in marriage to LeeAnn, 46 years ago. They had two children, Matthew and Meredith. Rod worked for Mankato Brown Drug for 28 years and Carlson Craft where he retired in 2014.

Rod loved all sports. He especially loved playing softball for many years and was inducted to the Mankato Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. Rod loved the Lord and was proud to be a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Rodney loved to sing in the church choir and more recently participated in the Singing Hills Chorus. As a child, Rod spent a lot of time on his uncle’s farm where he grew a love for tractors. Later in life, Rod became an active member and volunteer with LeSueur County Pioneer Power and was 2017 Grand Marshall.

Rod always has a special place in his heart for those who served our country, especially his brother and classmates. When one of his best friends came back from Vietnam and brought him a 1971 bottle of Whiskey, he saved it for many years. He was proud to donate it to the local Last Man’s Club symbolizing the last Vietnam Veteran standing and Rod wrote the story, “A Journey” that is read at their meetings.

Survived by his wife; children, Matthew and Meredith (Christopher) Adams; grandchildren, Walker, Issack, Joseph, Jacob, and Joshua; brother, Craig (Madeline) Larson; two sisters, Julie (Don) Strusz, Gloria (Steve) Roed; and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zander.
