Ronald John Nicholson

Ronald J. Nicholson, age 83, of Mankato, passed away on March 11, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato. 

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.   Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of memorials, pay it forward to someone in need.  

Ron was born on May 12, 1940 in St. Paul, MN to Theodore and Josephine (Meyer) Nicholson. He graduated from St. Agnes High School in St. Paul in 1958.   Ron then graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.  On June 16, 1962, Ron was united in marriage to Marlene Stangl at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, MN.  They moved to Mankato in 1964 where they raised three children.   Ron owned Around the Clock Laundromat in North Mankato and worked in car sales for many years.  In retirement, Ron owned and operated Ron’s Auto Sales.  He always quietly helped people in need.  More than anything, Ron enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Ron is survived by children, John Nicholson (Beth Griffis), Jeff Nicholson, and Debbie (Dave) Winch; grandchildren, Sara, Melissa, Cindy, and Travis; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Jim) Wilde; and cousin, Dolores Peters.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlene; brother-in-law, Danny (Bernadette) Stangl; niece, Jody Wilde.
