Ruth C. Haefner

Ruth C. Haefner, age 84, of Mankato died June 14, 2019 at Laurel’s Peak in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Wednesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the John and Clara Haefner scholarship fund or the donor’s choice.

Ruth was born July 12, 1934 to John and Clara (Scheurer) Haefner in Mankato. She graduated from Loyola High School. Ruth married Thomas Schmidt on November 28, 1953 and he later died in 1966. She married John Anderson on June 1, 1968 and they later divorced. Ruth managed Walnut Towers for over 17 years and was well liked by all the tenants.

Ruth is survived by her son, Randall Schmidt; two daughters, Denise Olivo and Paula (Rick) Brooks; son-in-law, Craig Kleist; six grandchildren, John (Cecelia) Schmidt, Luke (Teresa) Schmidt, Zach Wesely, Kelly (Nate) Persons, Sarah Kleist, Amanda Kleist; seven grea-grandchildren; brother, George (Anne) Haefner; two sisters, Dee Wright and Audrey (Duane) Mettler; four sisters-in-law, Nila Haefner, Phyllis Haefner, Donna Haefner, and Jean Haefner; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Kleist; grandchildren, Jacob and Laura Schmidt; eight brothers, Ralph, Lester, Walter, Stanley, Denis, Harry, Clair, and Eddie; three sisters, Mary Kudrle, Angie Bruns, and Janet Nelson.
