Shirley Groenewold

Shirley May Groenewold, 86, of Mankato, died December 30, 2022 at The Pillars of Mankato.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Northview and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Private burial will take place at a later date in Sibley, Iowa. Shirley was born April 13, 1936 to Donald and Clara (Didier) Sisk in Appleton, Minnesota. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1954. On May 8, 1955 she married Earl Groenewold in Sibley, Iowa. Together they raised three wonderful children.

Shirley worked as a bank teller for 20 years at Norwest Bank in Mankato. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, traveling, snow skiing, sewing, gardening, cleaning, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 67 years, Earl; children, Kelly (Marci) of Northfield, Kevin (Karyn) of Balaton, and Kay (Lynn) of Mankato; grandchildren, Nate (Kristel), McKenna (DJ), Elise (Dave), Katy (Ryan), Brandon, and Brianna; great grandchildren, Oliver and Nora; step grandchildren, Jessica (Anthony) and Peter (Chelsea); step great grandchildren, Charlie, Emma, Hazel, and Aiden; and brother, Gerald (Sonya) Sisk.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marlys; and twin sons, Ryland and Rayburn.
