Shirley Ann Noy, age 93, of Mankato and formerly of Vernon Center, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at New Perspective Living in Mankato.
Shirley began life on July 9, 1927, in Mankato, MN, the daughter of Elmer and Agnes (Tarpy) Borneke. Her early life was in the Eagle Lake and Madison Lake area. She attended All Saints Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated from Mankato High School in 1945. She furthered her education at Mankato Commercial College. She worked at Mankato Oil Company until her marriage on Feb 7, 1948, to William A. Noy at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake.
The couple was blessed with five children – Connie, David, Janel, Lynn, and Robert. Shirley farmed with William in Vernon Center until their retirement. Shirley enjoyed golfing with Bill and their friends, doll collecting, and antiques. She enjoyed spending her winters in retirement with Bill in Mesa, AZ and their many friends. Many of the family enjoyed spending winter time with them in Arizona. Shirley cherished her faith, her friends, and especially her family.
Shirley is survived by four children, Connie (Jeff) Hackett of Sioux City, IA; Janel (Wayne) Hoffman of Surprise, AZ; Lynn (Dave) Bartsch, Bob (Sanda) Noy; daughter-in-law, Jacque Noy all of Vernon Center; twenty three grandchildren, Matthew (LaTrisha) Hackett, Michael Hackett, Marie (Joey) Plueger, Mitchell (Shelby) Hackett, Johanna (Aaron) Hislop, Alan Noy, Carole (Michael Brinkman) Morey, Mariah, Jon, Ben, Ava, Lynae Noy, Ben Hoffman, Sarah Hoffman, John (Crystal) Bartsch, Lisa (Morgan) Long, Will (Stephanie) Bartsch, Laura (Chuck) Pryor, Beverly (Adam) Mott, Brian (Evi) Noy, Brad and Tom Noy, Becca Haller; twenty two great-grandchildren, Gabe, Billie Jean, Brooke, Anna, Ronan, Bode, Courtney, Vanessa, Mikhail, Brielle, Alessandra, Jake, Stephanie, Lauren, Brandon, Maysa, Keeley, Milayna, Macklin, Cora, Olivia, and Evelyn; sister, Mary Ann Gray of Redwood Falls; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Harold) Tonn of Winnebago; and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to Shirley’s heart as she treasured them all.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 2014; son, David in 2010; grandson-in-law, Joey Morey; two great-grandchildren, Abel Noy and Emerson Bartsch; brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Borneke; two sisters-in-law, Ann (Gordon) Mendenhall, Agnes (Maurice) Crowley; brother-in-law, Bob Gray.
Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Interment will be in St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, Vernon Center. Memorials may be given to St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery Fund or donor’s choice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at New Perspective, where Shirley resided since 2012 and to Mayo Hospice – Mankato staff for their compassionate care for Shirley.
