Signe Louise Olson

Signe Louise Olson, age 72, of Mankato passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the Mankato Mortuary, with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at the Lake Crystal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions in memory of Signe Olson be made to the Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026, www.brainsupportnetwork.org. 

Signe was born on April 16, 1952, to Warren and Ella (Fox) Olson in St. Peter, MN. Signe attended and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1970. She married Oris Joseph Ostgarden and together they had two children, Joseph, and Gretchen. Oris “Joe” and Signe later divorced.

Signe enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She loved music and dancing, playing cards, watching documentaries and biographies, antiquing, and spending time with her pet birds.

Signe is survived by her children, Joseph (Amy) Ostgarden, and Gretchen (Mitch) Bissonette; grandchildren, Wyatt, and Savannah Ostgarden; sisters, Kris (Jim) Evenson, and Nina (Gene) Meyer, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Signe was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Ella Olson.
