Stanley “Stan” H. Spence, age 91, of Vernon Center, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

A Celebration of Stan's Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato.  Visitation will be one hour before service.  Private family interment will be in Vernon Center Cemetery.

Stanley, the son of Harley and Valdah (Oachs) Spence, was born on February 21, 1931, in Vernon Center. He attended school thru the 8th grade and then went to work on the farm to help his father who was sick. Stan married Grace Nelson September 2, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. Stan farmed all his life and also sold Jacques Seed and Fertilizer.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center, past member of the boards of Vernon Center Township and Vernon Center Cemetery.  Stan and Grace traveled to Mexico with the Lions Club for 15 years to distribute eye glasses to people in need and hosted many families with Friendship Force. Stan enjoyed gardening, making stained glass, woodworking, building furniture, fishing, and deep sea fishing in Florida.

Stan is survived by six children, Steve (Terri) Spence of Vernon Center, Jeff Spence of Romania, Linda Collin of Cape Coral, FL, Janet (Terry) Othoudt of Vernon Center, Lori Spence of Vernon Center, and Gary (Courtney) Spence of Mankato; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carol) Spence of Eugene, OR; sister-in-law, Norma (Earl) Rydhome of Brooklyn Center, MN; many nieces and nephews

Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; parents; sister, Shirley (Earl) Reid; sister-in-law, Judy Spence.
