Stanley G. Stutz

Stanley Gene Stutz, age 83, of Mankato, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, September 6, 2019, after a yearlong battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato with visitation prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.  Private burial will be at a later date.  Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Stan was born May 27, 1936 in Currie, Minnesota to Irwin and Emma (Silvernale) Stutz.  He was baptized and confirmed at Currie Presbyterian Church.  Stan grew up on the family farm by Lake Shetek and attended country school.  He graduated in 1955 from Tracy High School where he was class vice president, played football and participated in various vocal and instrumental groups.  On December 30, 1956 he married Marlys Helgeson at Tracy Lutheran Church.

After farming with his father for 2 years, Stan and Marlys moved to Mankato.  Stan was employed by Capital Properties, then Northland Beverages for 31 years and Pepsi Cola for 6 years.  After retiring he worked part time at Home Magazine and Kato Insurance.

Stan enjoyed cheering on the Vikings, Twins, Wild and Timberwolves. He loved fishing, golfing, the cabin on Lake Washington, Friday breakfast with the guys and trips to Florida and summer golf vacation with friends.   He especially cherished his time watching his children and grandchildren participating in their many sports and activities. Stan was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. 

Stan is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Marlys; children, Todd (Tracy) Stutz of Dellwood, MN, Jill (Steve) Isakson of North Mankato, and Troy (Maria) Stutz of White Bear Lake, MN; granddaughters, Oliva and Anna Stutz; grandsons, Brett, Brandon and Tanner Isakson and Derek, Drew and Daniel Stutz; one great-granddaughter, Sonja; one great-grandson, Owen; brother, Conley (Donna) Stutz; sisters, Sandy Wojack and Sharri (Ron) Baldner; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and so many wonderful friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Greta Sponsel; brothers-in-law, Donald Sponsel and Louis Wojack.

Stan touched the lives of so many and will be remembered for his love of life, family and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Dan Anderson, Dr. Suresh Devineni, the nursing staff at River’s Edge Hospital and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care.
