Stephen "Steve" J. Sloniker

Stephen Jay Sloniker, 81, of Mankato, died February 27, 2023 in Mankato.

Steve was born May 23, 1941 to Frank and Mary (Durnil) Sloniker in Wabash, Indiana. He graduated from Roann High School in 1959 in Roann, Indiana. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving until his retirement in 1983. Steve married Diane Silvernale in 1971 and together they raised two sons, Scot and Gregg.

In his free time, Steve enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling with Diane, trips to the casino, woodworking, and was an avid sports fan. To his grandchildren, he was known as “Dude”.

Steve is survived by his sons, Scot (Denise) of Mankato, Minnesota and Gregg (Andrea) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon (Ciara), Aitana, and Kaehli; great grandchildren, Ariana, Ellie, and Shay; brother, Richard (Nancy) of Ft. Wayne Indiana; mother-in-law, Jeanette Silvernale of Currie, Minnesota; and many numerous extended family members.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diane.

A private family burial will take place at a later date in Currie, Minnesota.
