Steven "Steve" Francis Fitterer

Steven “Steve” Francis Fitterer, age 62, of North Mankato passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Kern’s Oak Grove Cemetery, rural North Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, or Mayo Hospice. Steve was born in Mankato, MN on December 22, 1961, to Francis and Ruth (Goettl) Fitterer. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1980. Steve was a long time New Ulm, MN resident where he worked several different jobs. He particularly enjoyed working for many years at Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories, Inc. While in high school Steve was the track team manager and was awarded the Champion of Champions Award by the Mankato Jaycee Women. Steve enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Minnesota Vikings, and playing in the Fitterer Fantasy Football league.

Steve was a courageous warrior all his life and overcame many challenges with his steadfast determination. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and especially loved to make his nieces and nephews laugh. Steve cherished his family the most, and loved the annual Fitterer family vacations, holidays, and celebrations.

Steve is survived by his mother, Ruth Fitterer; siblings, Mary Kay (Craig) Uphoff, Sharry (Paul) Gasperlin, Jim (Bobbi) Fitterer, and Chad (Pam) Fitterer; nieces and nephews, Kayla (Vaughn) Tackmann, Lindsey (Kyle) Hove, Mariah Uphoff (Mitch), Jenna Uphoff, Luke (Jackie) Gasperlin, Amy Gasperlin, Katelyn Gasperlin, Elena Fitterer, Gabi Fitterer, Ben Fitterer, Emily Fitterer, Sam Fitterer; one great-niece and one great-nephew; and extended family.

Preceded in death by his father, Francis, and his grandparents.
