Thelma Mae Norman, age 95, went to her heavenly rest on September 22, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Largo, FL. Thelma was born on April 5, 1927, in Mapleton, MN to Clarence and Ida. She grew up in Mapleton, attending school there. The family moved her last year of high school graduating from Vernon Center High School. Thelma was united in marriage to Ralph Norman Jr. on August 23, 1947, in Vernon Center. They spent a lifetime farming together near Lake Crystal. After retiring from farming, they enjoyed traveling, dancing, walking the state and national parks, having walked every state park in MN more than once. They visited every state in the United States and several countries abroad. Thelma loved to cook for her family and friends and was acclaimed for her great cooking. She also loved to sew and made dozens of hand-made quilts, designing some of her own.
Thelma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, her parents, and brothers, Robert and Gerald. Thelma is survived by her children, Virginia (Wallace) Mathews of Hot Springs Village, AR, Mary Parker of Largo, FL, Barbara Sinning (Bill Schell) of Algoma, WI, and Dean (Barbara) Norman of Lake Crystal; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at Minneopa Cemetery, Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
