Thomas Nixt

Thomas Anthony Nixt, 87, of North Mankato, died April 18, 2022 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Tom was born April 13, 1935 to Albert and Eva (Shinn) Nixt in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1954 and attended junior college in Mason City. On may 25, 1963 he married Barbara Tims. Together, they raised two children, Mike and Steve.

Tom worked for Dotson Foundry for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially riverboat cruises in Europe several time. He and Barbara also enjoyed wintering in Arizona for 19 years where he was an avid bowler and croquet and bocce ball master.

Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; sons, Mike Nixt of Minneapolis and Steve (Michelle) Nixt of North Mankato; grandchildren, Samantha (Michael) Kraushaar, Abby Nixt, Cassandra Nixt, Paige Nixt, and Taylor Nixt; great grandson, Augie James Kraushaar; and niece and nephew, Linda Cassett and James Varner.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert (Maxine) Varner.
