Vera L. Brack

Vera Leona Brack, age 100, was born to Henry and Mary Brandt on May 6, 1924 on the family farm in Enterprise Township in Jackson County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Church in Kimball Township. She received her education at District 20 and graduated from Jackson High School in 1942.

In 1945 she moved to California where she met her future husband. After a six-month courtship, she and Laverle (“Curley”) Brack were married on July 15, 1950 and lived in California until 1953 when they moved to Iowa. To this union, two daughters were born, Cindy and Bobbi. In 1989, after retirement, they moved to Mankato, MN and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. In 2013 Vera moved to Kingsley Shores, a retirement community in Lakeville, MN where she was active playing cards and greeting people at the dining room.

She loved to do crossword puzzles, sew, knit, counted cross stitch, piece quilts, volunteer at VINE, play cards, and most of all, spend time with family.

Vera is survived by daughters Cindy (Tim) Rollins and Bobbi Hauser, grandson, Thomas (Maggie) Erickson, great-grandson Wesley, great-granddaughter Landon, sister-in-law Carol Brandt, brother-in-law Norman Shorts and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laverle, sisters Evelyn Casey, Eunice Shorts, Merva Carlson, brothers Bud, Hilbert and Vyrn Brandt.

A memorial service will be held on April 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VINE, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato or donor’s choice.
