Vernon E. "Vern" Bigham

Vernon Emery Bigham, born August 22, 1927, passed away suddenly December 20, 2021.

Preceded in death by parents, Emery and Anna Bigham; sisters, Evelyn, Edith, and Erma; wife of 66 years, Wanda; three children, Timothy, Bobby, and David. Survived by son, Jim (Cindy); daughter, Nancy (Dan) Sheran; son, John (Lisa); son, Mark (Renae); daughter in-law, Susan; grandchildren, Kristin (Eric) Heizman, Ian (Gretta), Ashley (Erik), Bobby Sheran, Leighanna Sheran, Kellie (Jayme) Pantekoek, Katie (Mike) Trembley, Billy (Megan), Justin (Margaret), Eric (Alyssa), Alex, Wynn, and Emma; twelve great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia-Jingle, Betty, and Pauline; brother, David; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Vern was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather brother and uncle and friend. 

Vern was a baberuth baseball coach for many years and was involved in many other youth sports activities. Vern found great joy in coaching and cheering his children and grandchildren on throughout their various activities.

Vern worked for NSP (Northern States Power) as a lineman and then Xcel Energy as a Safety Coordinator for most of his life until retirement.

When Vern was 79, he started his own company, BigsEasyLift. With a passion for workplace safety, Vern became an accomplished inventor and holds many patents in his name.

Vern adored his wife, Wanda, and cherished all of life’s blessings with his family.

The family would like to thank the Pathstone Hospice team, especially Anne, Sherica and Geri, for all their tender love and care and kindness to Vern!

Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4pm - 7pm at the Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial Service will be held 11am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Mankato. The service will be livestreamed and available on Vern’s obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.
