Bonnie Varuska

Veronica "Bonnie" Varuska, 86 died Sunday June 16, 2019 at her North Mankato residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 21. 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday. Private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary handling services.

Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice or to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Bonnie was born July 28, 1932 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada to John and Mary (McCarthy) Byrne.  She was united in marriage to Robert Dean Varuska on October 15, 1952 in Corner Brook.  They resided in South Dakota prior to their move to North Mankato in 1970. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She loved admiring the lunar moon phases, playing cards, flowers, and chatting with the neighbors.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 67 years, Robert of North Mankato; eight children, Anne Marie (Chuck) McCormick of Apple Valley, Colleen Varuska of North Mankato, Robert Jr. (Sharon) Varuska of Mankato, Janet (Patrick Thomas) Varuska of North Mankato, Bradley (Marjorie) Varuska of Cape Canaveral, FL, Trish (Dan) Wingert of North Mankato, Michael Varuska of Mankato, Steve Varuska of Loveland, CO; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Byrne of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, Jo Blocker of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Darlene (Charles) Jaeger of El Jebel, CO; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and  five sisters.
