Viola "Vi" M. Pierson

Viola M. Pierson, age 93, passed away on March 14, 2024.  

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato.  Visitation will be at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato on Tuesday March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.  Interment will be at the Mausoleum at Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.

Viola was born June 26, 1930, in Welcome, MN, to Henry & Sophia Rose.  She graduated from Welcome High School in 1948, and Mankato Commercial College in 1949.  She married Leonard Pierson on April 16, 1950, and they moved to a farm east of Lake Crystal.  To their union, five children were born.

She worked at Green Giant Canning Co. in LeSueur, Sear’s accounting department in Mankato, Lake Crystal National Bank (Minn Star) in Lake Crystal, Benco Electric in Mankato, and did all the book keeping for the family trucking business.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bingo, watching TV, traveling, being with her family, and being with all her friends she made at Oak Terrace Apartment in North Mankato.  She had a huge collection of recipes all hand typed.  She practiced typing almost every day on a real typewriter.  

She is survived by her children, Pat (Wayne), Shelley, Deb (Steve), Kevin (Rose), and Keith (Konnie); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Herb (Jane) Rose; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents, Henry & Sophia Rose; in-laws, Anton & Helen Pierson; and brother, Aldor (DeElda) Rose.
