Virginia Marie Gimmer

Virginia Marie Gimmer, age 86 of Mankato, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.  Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Virginia Marie Gimmer was born November 9, 1936, to Leo and Celestine (Thissen) Hoffman in Mankato. She graduated from Loyola High School in 1956. Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth Gimmer Sr. on June 9, 1958, at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Virginia worked at MidTex for many years before retiring.

She was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, her cats and most of all her family.

Virginia is survived by her three children, Linda (Ron) Hummer of Mapleton, Kenneth (Dezata) Gimmer Jr., Brian (Linda Fischenich) of North Mankato; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Gregg Marx of Madison Lake.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Sr., daughter, Susan Marx; son, Kevin Gimmer; grandson, Gary Valliant; sister, Flora Slater; infant brother, Leo Henry “Sonny” Hoffman.
