William Henry Hoffman

William H. “Bill” Hoffman, age 90, lifelong resident of Mankato, died Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Friday, June 14, 2024 at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Bill was born September 17, 1933 in Mankato to Elmer and Mildred (Edwards) Hoffman. He attended country school, union school, and Franklin School. He worked on the family farm in Mankato and Delavan. Bill entered the US Army on September 13, 1956 and was honorably discharged in September 1958.

He married Mary Jean Schwamberger on May 9, 1959 at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato. They had three children, Jeannie Marie, Chuck, and Chris. Bill worked for Mankato Implement, retiring after 58 years. 

Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. Every fall, Bill would go hunting with four close friends to Northern Minnesota, Colorado, and Wyoming. Bill loved taking the motorhome on road trip with Mary Jean, spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Jean Hoffman; children, Jeannie Marie Hoffman, Chuck (Susane) Hoffman, and Chris Hoffman; four grandchildren, Andrea Ellis, Melissa (Mike) Lensch, Danielle (Eric) Harrison, and Corey (Channa Puhrmann) Hoffman; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter, Hailey, Natalie, Andrew, Eli, LoElla, and Briggs; and siblings, Jerry (Loretta) Don (Sharon), and Jan (Ron) Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mildred; siblings, Delmar, Betty Wenner, Gene, Leon, and Lyle; and granddaughter, Christina Catron.
