Yvonne "Karren" Matuska

Yvonne “Karren” (Dorrian) Matuska, age 84, of Mankato passed away due to natural causes on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at New Perspective Senior Living.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Mankato Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or the St. Thomas More Newman Center.

Karren was born on March 12, 1940 to Joseph and Beulah (Pietz) Dorrian in Minneapolis, MN. She married Robert J. Matuska, and together they had three children.

Karren was a proud graduate of Minneapolis South High School. Karren received her BS in elementary education from MSU, as well as her Masters in education from MSU. She worked as a 1st grade teacher at Janesville Elementary School for 35 years, and as a substitute for all grades in her early retirement years.

Karren enjoyed reading, gardening, playing SODUKO, going on cruises with her husband, and vacations with her children and their families.

Karren is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert J. Matuska; children, Robert B. (Lisa) Matuska, Catherine A. (Dr. Robert Stocker) Matuska, and Michael J. (Cindy) Matuska; grandchildren, Megan (Brent) Baxter, Robert Jay (Jackie) Matuska, Elizabeth Stocker, Robert (Raelin) Stocker, Erin (Mitchel) Niehaus, Brooke (Matt) Maciaszek, Blake (fiancé, Sarah Wahlin) Matuska, Braxton Matuska, and Brayton Matuska; great-grandchildren, Charlie and George Baxter, Milee and Eden Stocker, and Elsie Niehaus; brother, Gary (Karen) Dorrian.

Karren was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Beulah Dorrian, and brothers, James, and Leonard.
