Abbie McGregor, 40 of Mapleton, died on December 23, 2016 after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
A Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton and one hour prior the service.
Abbie was born on February 18, 1976 in Albert Lea, MN, daughter of Gary and Dianne Thompson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School where she made lifelong friends.
Abbie met Chad McGregor in 1994 and they were married in Clarks Grove, MN on August 30, 1997. Chad was the love of her life. They moved from Omaha to Green Bay before ending up in Mapleton where Chad began working for Scheels. Abbie worked several places in Mapleton before she found her home at Northwest Gas. Abbie loved her co-workers and every customer that walked through the door.
Spencer and Halie were the light of Abbie’s life. She loved following them to sporting events and school functions. Maple River was very important to Abbie’s family.
Abbie was an active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton serving on the church council and as a Sunday school teacher.
Abbie is survived by her husband Chad; her son, Spencer (16) and her daughter Halie (13); parents, Gary and Dianne Thompson; grandmother Orva Sorensen; Brother, Aaron (Heather) Thompson, nieces, Emma and Lily; sister, Jennifer (David) Munyer; niece, Ally and nephew, Blake; In-laws, Tim and Mona McGregor, brother in-laws, Shawn and niece, Julia; and Brother in-law, Shannon (Tarah) and niece, Lena and nephew, Isaac.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Everett and Olive Thompson and Philip Sorensen.
The family would like to thank the entire community of Maple River for their constant love and support.
